John B. Madden

Colleague, Mentor & Friend

February 9, 1945 - June 5, 2024

 

Mr. Madden’s career impressively spanned over four decades in the insurance and reinsurance industries. He brought a vast amount of knowledge regarding claims management, financial auditing, as well as a worldwide network of industry contacts and company information. Mr. Madden had handled collections and commutations totaling in excess of $40 million.

 

Mr. Madden directed the Bazil Group’s third party administration team and assisted with the run off acquisition and debt purchasing efforts of the company. He was also a key player in business prospecting.

 

Mr. Madden attended The City College of New York from 1963 thru 1964 and completed his education from 1967 thru 1970 at St Francis College, with the time spent between in the Service of the United States Army. On several occasions and for specific disciplines he completed several courses at the College of Insurance in New York City.

John Brendan Madden, 79, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Arnold Walter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Holmdel, New Jersey. 

 

John was born on February 9, 1945, in Limerick, Ireland to his parents, Patrick and Nancy (Dickenson) Madden.  In 1952, John moved from Ireland to Brooklyn, New York.  He met and later married the love of his life Mary Nulty in January of 1972.  In 1978 John and Mary moved to Hazlet, New Jersey where they remained to raise their family. He was a dedicated parishioner at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, New Jersey.  John was proud to serve his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He enjoyed his work and retired as an Insurance Consultant for Chiltington International, Holmdel, New Jersey and The Bazil Group, Glenmoore, Pennsylvania.

John was an active member of the Holy Name Society for Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. He was also the founder of the Holy Family Booster Club and played softball for the Holy Name Society, softball league.  He was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying the Mets, Giants and other various teams.  He also tirelessly worked at perfecting his golf game  and was highly skilled at barbecuing.

John was predeceased by his beloved parents, Patrick and Nancy (Dickenson) Madden , his loving wife, Mary (Nulty) Madden and his sister, Nuala Fauclough. He is survived by his devoted children, Patrick Madden and his wife Kimberly of Middletown, New Jersey, Michael Madden of Keyport, New Jersey and Maryann Madden of Hazlet, New Jersey, his caring sisters, Peggy Scandole and her husband Robert of Breezy Point, New York , Mary Frizzel and her husband Richie of Brooklyn, New York and Phyllis Vavilis, Long Beach, New York, his  loving sister in laws, Virginia Nulty of Hazlet, New Jersey and Eileen Nulty of Hazlet, New Jersey.   John was a devoted son, husband, father, brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed, never forgotten and always loved.
